The creation of Element 115, temporarily named ununpentium, has been confirmed, as well as its alpha-decay product, ununtritium. The new element fits below Bismuth. It’s way too unstable to have any practical use, existence being proven by detection of a grand total of two X-ray photons (with the correctly predicted energy). The atoms were made by colliding 20Ca with 95Am.
Scientists anticipate millions of people popping champagne bottles, shooting fireworks, dancing in the streets, and indulging in every manner of carnal revelry as this news spreads.
